It’s about time Hollywood got its own W (scheduled for November 2009). I’m surprised it’s taken Starwood this long to strike a deal, especially since the brand has been around for a decade just about. But boy, did Starwood strike a deal with this one. The new W Hollywood will be erected at the infamous intersection of Hollywood and Vine, a legendary epicenter of Hollywood hijinks. What a bold statement by the brand, for the brand.
The W Hollywood Residences will occupy one tower (where the rich bloods will live) in the two-tower building complex. It will be decked out with 143 residences varying in size from studios to three-bedroom penthouses. Its sibling tower (where the rest of us will stay) will feature a 305-room hotel. Owners will have full access to a rooftop residents-only swimming pool and fitness center, as well as VIP privileges to the Bliss Spa and an exclusive rooftop nightclub. But get this . . . the rooftop also showcases a 3,500 square foot outdoor courtyard lounge comlete with al fresco dining to the backdrop of a monumental movie screen. Again, what a bold statement even for Hollywood.
On top of the sure-to-be hefty residence management fees, pricing for the residence units ranges from $800,000 to more than $7 million. For the affluent and/or daydreamers like myself, read on here.

[...] Like the W Times Square, the welcome desk at the W NYC Downtown is situated several stories above ground level. In this case it’s on Level 5 and has taken on the name, Sky Welcome Desk. Adjacent to the living room lobby is an outdoor terrace lounge that overlooks an outdoor plaza below. If you think that’s impressive already, listen to what the affluent residents get to play with . . . A rooftop terrace on the 56th level and a whole dedicated floor (on Level 31) equipped with a fitness center, a Digital Lounge with a Media Screening Room, and a cafe for the sole use of residents and their guests. Wow! Kind of reminds me of the W Hollywood Hotel & Residences with their rooftop silver screen and private pool. [...]
