After much anticipation, The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort in Riviera Nayarit, Mexico, has finally opened its doors. Nestled within a private beach community, this luxury hotel and resort marks the St. Regis brand’s penetration into the Latin America market. The resort offers three restaurants, three infinity pools with private cabana service, a state-of-the-art fitness center, private beach club, tennis courts, a Remede Spa, and two Jack Nicklaus signature golf courses. In line with St. Regis brand standards, there will be a highly trained staff of personal St. Regis butlers at this landmark Mexican resort.
This all sounds tantalizing, but where the heck is Punta Mita anyway? For those who don’t know, Punta Mita is located roughly 40 miles northwest of the popular resort and party destination of Puerto Vallarta. Here’s a map in case you aren’t familiar with Puerta Vallarta either. Mexican beaches have long held the reputation of attracting the Spring Break party crowds, but Punta Mita’s seclusion and serenity will offer its guests quite the antithesis. You won’t find a Senor Frogs establishment here.
Instead, the hidden resort complex will be composed of several exquisite buildings spanning a surface area of more than 22 serene acres. The private resort will feature 89 guestrooms, 30 suites, and an uber-exclusive three-bedroom presidential suite. Magnificent views of Mexico’s oceanfront, tranquil gardens, and mountainous landscape will be the scenic norm throughout this resort. Design details include handcrafted tiles made exclusively for the resort by local artists, private terraces, custom furnishings, and marble bathrooms with both indoor and outdoor showers.
It’s nice to see that The St. Regis Punta Mita has placed considerable design emphasis on using local, natural materials as well as local artwork. The use of Mexican Galarza stone, river stone, marble, onyx, wood, and clay reflects the Mexican coastal culture and contributes to a natural oasis atmosphere throughout the resort. The concept also includes subtle stylistic elements from Provence and France in addition to Mexico and is based on barefoot elegance.
This new St. Regis will be going head-to-head against the well established Four Seasons in Punta Mita.
