Yesterday was World AIDS Day . . . A day individuals and organizations from around the world came together to raise awareness for the global AIDS epidemic that has infected roughly 33 million people. This year actually marks the 20th anniversary of World AIDS Day. The world has come a long way since 1988, but there is still significant work ahead of us.
This year, W Hotels has partnered up with the (RED) campaign. For those who don’t know, the (RED) campaign seeks to combine our collective power as consumers. Every time we choose a (RED) product or service, at no extra cost to us, the company who created it gives up to 50 of its profit to buy and distribute antiretroviral medicine to those living with HIV in Africa – a continent hit hard by HIV/AIDS.
W Hotels is also participating in (RED)WIRE, a new digital music magazine subscription that delivers tunes from top artists like John Legend, Death Cab For Cutie, Elvis Costello, Sheryl Crow and more, accessible only to (RED)WIRE members. Many of these artists participated in the (RED)WIRE online launch event on MSN, which was presented at official viewing events at W Hotels throughout the United States.
W has also put together a special (RED)WIRE hotel package. All W Hotels in the United States will be giving guests access to a free, two week membership to (RED)WIRE during the month of December and will feature an exclusive (RED)WIRE package that includes a six month membership, delivering music and more from top artists straight to members. Best of all, the RED(WIRE) package is raising funds to provide medicine against HIV/AIDS for people who desperately need it in Africa.
Through December 2009, W Hotels’ exclusive (RED)WIRE package will include:
