W Santiago slated to open March 1, 2009
The best of 2008 lists are starting to roll in, but The Times UK has already compiled a Hottest of 2009 list. The W Santiago, slated to open March 1, 2009, was a newcomer on a list of 12 hotels that should raise the bar for the world’s hottest hotels next year. With only 205 rooms, this will be one of the smaller W Hotels.
“The W Hotel chain – the trendy arm of Starwood Hotels – is mushrooming over the next 12 months with openings in Doha, New York, St Petersburg, Barcelona, Bali, Puerto Rico and Santiago. The latter is perhaps the most interesting – situated across from Plaza Peru in the centre of town but with a view of the Andes,” reported the article. The hotel owners boast about how Santiago offers the possibility of experiencing both the ski slopes and beaches in the same day.
Currently, the only W Hotel in Latin America is the W Mexico City. This newest addition in Santiago will be the brand’s first property in South America.
Among other hotels that made the hot list for 2009 – Andaz New York. Andaz is Hyatt’s new upscale design brand with the most product similarities to W Hotels. With its sisters properties in London and West Hollywood, the Andaz brand is heating up and is sure to give W a run for its money in these cities.
